Concept of the event
The weekend will see about 60- 100 kite surfers descend into Lennox Head to contest the NSW and QLD Kite surfing Championships. The divisions that competitors may enter include juniors, ladies, open men’s, masters or legends This upcoming competition will showcase the wave riding discipline of the sport where competitors are judged on their wave riding skills. Place getters in their division will gain automatic entry into the national wave riding championships to be held at Port Macquarie NSW for a second year. Wednesday 6th - Sunday 10th February 2008. As well as the wave riding competition, a freestyle expression session will also wow spectators and frighten any low flying seagulls. Many Queensland kite surfers will also be in attendance because that state is using the Lennox Head competition as the 1st round of their qualifying series for selection to the national championships. Plenty of social activities are planned for the weekend including a sizzling spit roast dinner for competitors and their families on Saturday night – 27th October at the Lennox Head KiteSurf Spot on the comp site. Organizers of the event are very pleased and impressed with the large number of local business that are keen to support the weekend. The organizers predict that more surfboard riders will see how much fun riding waves with a kite is in windy conditions and how kite surfing compliments the preferred surfing conditions of calm wind. |
